Canadian Tire Centre set to host free Family Skate ahead of Family Day on Sunday, Feb. 17

In an effort to provide local residents with an opportunity to spend time with family in celebration of Ontario’s Family Day holiday on Monday, Feb. 18, Canadian Tire Centre announced today that the venue will host Family Skate ‘19 on Sunday, Feb. 17, when hockey fans and skating enthusiasts can lace up their skates and take to the same ice as the National Hockey League’s Ottawa Senators.

Held free of charge, Canadian Tire Centre will welcome patrons at three separate 50-minute public skating sessions: the first will begin at 11 a.m. with the second at Noon and the final session set to take place at 1 p.m.

During all public skating sessions, children 14 years of age and younger will be required to wear a helmet (while all adult participants are also encouraged to wear one). Skates must be worn on the ice at all times, while hockey sticks and pucks will not be permitted. Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their desired time to maximize skating time.

Designated seating areas will be made available for patrons to change into skates while limited concessions (Gate 3’s Tim Hortons outlet) will also be open. Spartacat, the Senators mascot and ambassador of fun, ambient music and the Senators promo team will add to the day’s entertainment.

While entry to Family Skate ’19 is free of charge (parking will also be free), fans are asked to register for the event by way of obtaining mobile tickets (which can be used to access Canadian Tire Centre at Gate 3 on the day of the skate).

Tickets will be available beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8. Participants are asked to visit senators.com/tickets to secure their spot.
