FEAST Indigenous Culinary Gathering & INDIGICHEF Culinary Competition

Mix and mingle with Indigenous chefs from across Canada and enjoy exquisitely prepared hearty bites created by INDIGICHEF participants at Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival 2019.



When: Friday June 21, 6 pm start| Saturday, June 22, 12-noon start

Where: Vincent Massey Park  

What: Indigenous Chefs from all over Canada compete at FEAST this Friday (National

Indigenous Peoples Day) with ticketed guests sampling and judging the chefs’ creations


Featuring: Lead judge is Chef Joseph Shawana of the acclaimed Indigenous Ku Kum Kitchen in Toronto and Charlie Sark, Indigenous Food Tourism Expert, from Lennox Island First Nation, Prince Edward Island who has been working with the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada, Indigichef co-sponsors, to grow indigenous Culinary tourism across the country.


Award-winning performers during FEAST include vocal sensation Emma Stevens, cellist Melody McKiver, Throatboxer Nelson Tagoona and world champion hoop dancer Dallas Arcand.


Chef competitors include Chef Elijah Mack Sterling (British Columbia), Trudy Metcalfe – Coe (Labrador), Justine Deschesne (Kitigan Zibi), Marie Claude Labelle (Kitigan Zibi), and Chantelle Bone (Manitoba). Local Indigenous chef Cezin Nottaway serves onsite as the host chef. Local non-indigenous chefs will be onsite performing sous chef and prep roles.   



Chefs' creations will be judged by guests in attendance and account for a percentage of their final culinary score.

Competition continues Saturday with black-box and quick-fire culinary contests.

Winners will be announced Saturday evening. And, over the weekend Saturday and

Sunday, chefs in the Culinary Arts Pavilion offer bite-sized portions available for sale (3 bites for $10).
